Public funding supports libraries, but often it is private gifts that make them flourish.

Studio Central

Studio Central

Your donation to Studio Central will help create an innovative space where everyone is free to experiment, explore, learn, record, edit, and share their story with the world.

Today’s libraries are not just places for consuming content, but also for creating it. Studio Central is an important part of Kitchener Public Library’s upcoming strategic plan and to our commitment to ensure digital literacy is a possibility for everyone.

Please help support this initiative to provide tools of the 21st century to our community.

Music in the Lounge

Music in the Lounge

Your donation to Music in the Lounge will provide the gift of music to everyone and anyone who comes in to Central Library.

We host live music performances every month – no admission or registration required. We’ve hosted jazz and swing bands, KW Symphony quartets, a cappella groups, folk singer-songwriters, and themed performances of Oktoberfest, Cinco de Mayo, and Christmas music.

It’s free to the public, but our musicians are paid. Please help support these important arts and culture events in your community.

Susan J. Hoffman Fund

The Susan J. Hoffman Local History Fund benefits the Grace Schmidt Room of Local History. By donating to this fund you will support many local history projects and resources, such as purchasing documents, maps, books, photographs, and archival storage materials; GSR furnishings and equipment; special projects, and more.

Susan J. Hoffman joined the staff of Kitchener Public Library in 1976 and began working with Grace Schmidt in the library’s local history department. In 1984, the Waterloo Historical Society (WHS) partnered with the library to open the Grace Schmidt Room of Local History (GSR). Along with honouring librarian and local historian Grace Schmidt, who had retired in 1980, it spoke to the high regard the local history collections enjoyed in the Region of Waterloo.

In 2006, the Waterloo Historical Society created this special fund to honour Susan J. Hoffman, in recognition of her many years of dedicated service to the Waterloo Historical Society and Kitchener Public Library.
