evolve. literally.

Growing With Our Community

An expanded and renovated Central Library will allow KPL to meet the needs of a growing and diversifying community.

Additional space for services and programs

As collections grow, and modern means of delivering information are integrated into the system, space constraints are limiting our ability to offer some of the programs and services that are important to our customers.

Services for teens and children

Crowded and outdated spaces make the library an unattractive destination for our youth, an audience that we want to instil with an early appreciation for literacy and lifelong learning.

Accessibility

The public library should be a gathering place that is easily accessible to everyone. With the renovation and expansion, spaces will become friendlier to those with disabilities, and services and collections offered to customers with disabilities will have room to expand.

Ambience

Not unlike any other public venue, the library must be aesthetically pleasing if we expect people to gather, linger, and share. A library
offers wonderful programs and services, and as a welcoming environment, more individuals will consider taking advantage of the world of opportunities this institution holds within its doors.
