About the Library
Pioneer Park Community Library sprang to life as a stationary Bookmobile open three days a week, grew into a plaza storefront service in 1982, and in 1989 opened a new library in a complex with the Doon Pioneer Park Community Centre.
The library enjoys a mutually supportive relationship with the Doon Pioneer Park Community Association by participating in community events, partnering in programs, and receiving funds from the Association.
The people in the local neighbourhoods have successfully backed and volunteered time to projects such as the library as well as the community centre, fire station, heritage trails, and environmentally sensitive locales.
Pioneer Park is home to the Toys to Go collection, which includes recreational and educational toys, games, and puzzles suitable for preschool children, and up to age 12. The collection includes adaptive toys for children with special needs plus a range of popular toys recommended by the Canadian Toy Testing Council.
