We are excited to announce a very successful, inaugural season for 85 Green!
85 Green is a series of initiatives that will promote nutritional literacy and help us learn and grow together toward a more sustainable community.
The 85 Green Learning Garden is yielding produce we’ve been harvesting this past month – herbs, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, peppers and even chard! The kids from our summer programs who helped plant and tend to the garden are taking this bounty home to share with their families.
The 85 Green Apiary has flourished during its first season on Central library’s green roof. The bees are flying over the library to the courtyard to pollinate the garden so they are acclimating to their new home quite well. Our beekeeper, Erica Shelley, is predicting we may even be able to harvest some honey this season!
85 Green Fundraising has been very successful this first season. The community has donated generously to convert our shrubbery beds into usable garden space and to pay for equipment and supplies. As we plan for our indoor winter garden and the 2020 outdoor season we will need more support from the community.
Please consider donating to the 85 Green initiatives that support nutritional literacy, sustainability and community engagement. Online donations can be made using the form below, or you can click here for other ways to donate.
