Susan J. Hoffman Fund

The Susan J. Hoffman Local History Fund benefits the Grace Schmidt Room of Local History. By donating to this fund you will support many local history projects and resources, such as purchasing documents, maps, books, photographs, and archival storage materials; GSR furnishings and equipment; special projects, and more.

Susan J. Hoffman joined the staff of Kitchener Public Library in 1976, working alongside librarian and local historian Grace Schmidt. In 1984, the Waterloo Historical Society (WHS) partnered with the library to open the Grace Schmidt Room of Local History. Along with honouring Ms. Schmidt, who had retired in 1980, it spoke to the esteem in which the local history collections were held in the Region of Waterloo.

In 2006, the Waterloo Historical Society created this special fund to honour Susan J. Hoffman, in recognition of her many years of dedicated service.
