WCA Astronomy Series - From Black Holes to the Big Bang: Humanity’s Cosmic Paradox

This event has expired.

June 28, 2023 @ 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Available at: Central Library

Despite black holes recently being observed for the first time, they remain some of the most mysterious objects in our Universe. Join us this month to hear Dr. Niayesh Afshordi speak about how black holes are still making us question the nature of time, gravity, and the very dawn of our Universe.

Niayesh Afshordi is an astrophysicist and faculty member of both the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics and the Perimeter Institute. His research covers a huge range of topics in astrophysics and cosmology, from dark energy and dark matter to gravity and black holes, as well as branching into other areas such as epidemiology.

The WCA-KPL Astronomy Talk series takes place on the last Wednesday of each month, and is jointly organized by the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics and KPL. Attendance is free and open to anyone, although we request that you register in advance.

The opinions of guest speakers do not necessarily reflect the values and mission of Kitchener Public Library. We champion the right for ideas to be heard and words expressed without censorship. Intellectual freedom is a fundamental right.
