A modern and collaborative approach to research, citizen science allows members of the public to contribute to scientific research, and has been shown over and over to be a powerful tool in astronomy. Numerous tasks have been carried out with citizen science, from hunting for exoplanets to unraveling the mysteries of distant galaxies. Join us this month to hear Dr. Ana Ennis speak about the role of citizen science in astronomy, and how you can get involved in it!

Ana Ennis is a postdoctoral researcher in the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Waterloo, and the Perimeter Institute. Her research focuses on the formation and evolution of nearby galaxies by studying planetary nebulae and globular clusters, and she also has interests in science outreach and science communication.

The WCA-KPL Astronomy Talk series takes place on the last Wednesday of each month, and is jointly organized by the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics and KPL. Attendance is free and open to anyone, although we request that you register in advance.
